New Airport Fire Station
Wellington Airport’s new Fire Station on Coutts Street was officially blessed and opened in December 2025. The purpose-built facility replaces the aging, no-longer-fit-for-purpose station and provides a state-of-the-art base for the Airport Fire Service.
The new station plays an important role in not only managing fires and operational emergencies but also in supporting medical incidents and marine rescues.
Key features include modern accommodation and office spaces, rainwater harvesting, EV charging, and capacity for solar electricity generation. The public viewing area at the north-east end of the site has been improved, offering an attractive space for plane-spotting enthusiasts.
The new station enables more efficient training, faster response times, and improved support for passengers, airlines, and all stakeholders in and around the Airport.
Thank you to everyone in the community for your patience, understanding, and support throughout this project.
