Airport Express Bus

The Airport Express bus service runs between Wellington Airport and the Wellington Railway Station seven days a week, with a timetable designed around airport and train departure and arrival times.

Nine new purpose-built electric buses run a high frequency of approximately 10-20 minutes depending on the time of day, except for the first few morning services and evening services.

Travel time between the railway station and the airport is around 25-35 minutes depending on traffic. More information including timetable and stops is available here.

Payment

Payment is accepted with a Snapper card, cash, or contactless debit or credit card.

SuperGold card and Veteran card holders travel for free during off-peak (weekdays 9am – 3pm and after 6.30pm, weekends and public holidays).

Snapper Cards can be topped up at the Snapper Kiosk which is on level 0 by the exit door near International Arrivals. Snapper cards can be purchased from Ted & Rose on Level 0.

Onboard features

Free Wi-Fi and USB charging are available to passengers, along with luggage storage.

Where to catch

At Wellington International Airport, exit the airport terminal from the ground floor out of Door E and follow the signs to the Airport Express.

At Wellington Station (Lambton Interchange) the AX departs and arrives at the dedicated Airport Express Stop B.

Stopping through Wellington’s CBD (from Lambton Quay, Willis Street, Manners Street to Courtenay Place), Kilbirnie and Hataitai. CDB stops are within 5 minutes' walk to most of the central city’s hotels, offices and attractions.
