Airfield Airport Operations Coordinator

We are looking for a motivated aviation professional to join our proactive, diverse and social operations team. This opportunity will see you part of a team of Airfield Operations Coordinators who work in a rostered shift environment to ensure the safety, compliance and efficient operation of Wellington Airport’s airfield.

About the role

We are looking for a motivated, flexible and friendly customer experience professional to join our diverse and social Operations team, in a rostered shift environment on a 12 months Fixed Term.

You will be:

  • proactively assisting in the facilitation of travelers, including queue management
  • providing travelers, workers and visiting members of the public with relevant information
  • providing ‘on the ground’ operational facilitation intelligence to the Integrated Operations Centre
  • carrying out inspections of terminal areas and equipment, and reporting and monitoring hazards
  • monitoring the baggage handling system and responding to and rectifying faults on all equipment
  • undertaking daily waste management duties as required
  • managing and effectively coordinating the sequencing of inward and outward flow of goods and waste throughout Wellington Airport
  • overseeing occupational Health and Safety compliance in the terminal, baggage hall and loading dock

About you

You have:

  • customer service experience
  • the ability to foster respect and build relationships with a diverse group of customers and stakeholders
  • great communication skills (verbal and written) and can understand, explain and be conversant with technical content
  • a flexible and positive attitude
  • a high standard of presentation

You are able to:

  • work unsupervised while ensuring that all tasks are completed within an acceptable timeframe
  • work under pressure
  • be proactive and use initiative
  • understand safety issues and considerations

Ideally, you have:

  • A good level of physical fitness
  • An appreciation of the aviation industry
  • 2-4 years working in a dock way or baggage hall environment (desirable, but not necessary)
  • A full and current driver’s license and forklift license (desirable, but not necessary)

As part of our standard pre-employment requirements, you must be able to obtain security clearance from Aviation Security Services, complete a Ministry of Justice background check, be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 and pass a medical assessment and drug/alcohol test.
