Wellington airport gender pay gap reporting
Gender pay equity and the gap between women and men’s pay is a big focus in many New Zealand workplaces including Wellington Airport. We treat this issue with importance and pride ourselves on a proactive and transparent approach to pay gap data collection, analysis and reporting.
This is why we proactively measure and publish this pay gap data in an annual diversity report publication, our annual report, website and through Mind the Gap - one of New Zealand’s first pay gap registries.
WIAL’s median gender pay gap for December 2023 is 5%, compared to the national median of 8.6%. This is down from 10.6% in 2022 which shows we are moving in the right direction.
It is important to note that no gender pay gap exists across roles that are like for like. For example, if there were two LSSO roles or two fire fighter roles at the same level, then the salary would be the same regardless of gender.
Showing we are a diverse company that values all employees equally is extremely important for us, along with proactively addressing the root causes of any pay gap and/or pay inequity. It is also an intrinsic part of our overall Employee Value Proposition (EVP) that future employees will expect from us as an employer.
