Wellington Airport launched its Safety Wingman 3.0 programme for the construction of the new $36m Rydges Wellington Airport Hotel with Arrow International.

The Safety Wingman programme, fronted by Jamie Fitzgerald, centres around safety being put first and that workers should observe and look out for their colleagues on the worksite in order to get home safe to their families each night.

Airports are not like most construction sites and the aviation industry requires levels of quality and safety that are second to none. The hotel's worksite is wihtin a fully operational environment this is open every day and night. There is a strong and positive safety culture within the aviation industry. Wellington Airport has made a joint commitment for safety to be at the forefront is of everything that happens on-site.

The Safety Wingman programme has been at the heart of recent airport developments and this projects' theme focuses on ‘Taking Safety to New Heights’. One of the great things about the Safety Wingman programme is that everyone contributes, observes and looks after each other - a small action can have a big impact.

As part of their inductions all staff working on the project will see the following Safety Wingman video.
