Wellington Airport announces new Director

23 Jan 2019

Wellington International Airport Limited (WIA) is pleased to announce the appointment of Wayne Eagleson to the WIA Board with effect from 1 January 2019.

Chairman Tim Brown welcomed Wayne Eagleson to the Board and the experience he will bring from his extensive career in the government sector.

Mr Eagleson was chief of staff to Prime Minister and Tourism Minister John Key from 2008 to 2016 and subsequently Bill English until the 2017 election, and now works for government relations consulting firm Thompson Lewis as a consulting partner.

Outside of Parliament, he worked as a member of the senior executive team for Transpower, and in senior roles for Westpac and DB Breweries.

Mr Eagleson replaces Keith Sutton as an independent director appointed by Wellington City Council. “We want to recognise and thank Keith Sutton for the immense contribution he has made during his time as a director of Wellington Airport” said Tim Brown.

The appointment of Mr Eagleson and departure of Mr Sutton will keep the number of directors of WIA at six.
