WELLfed come out top in Porirua Community Awards

14 Jul 2021

Congratulations to WELLfed who were announced as Porirua’s Supreme Award winners in the 2021 Wellington Airport Regional Community Awards.

WELLfed provides opportunities for communities to learn, grow and be inspired together. They provide weekly cooking classes within a fun, uplifting learning environment which is achieving rippling social changes. They passionately believe all people across Aotearoa can be empowered with choices, skills and resources for living well.

WELLfed first started their programme in May 2016 with a small group to pilot the concept and refine the initiative & logistics. It’s not the first time they’re efforts have been recognised, having won the Wellington Airport Community Awards Rising Star award in 2018.

Wellington International Airport, Wellington Community Trust, and the five local councils come together to recognise the work carried out by community group volunteers in the wider Wellington region.

The winning community groups from Porirua will join winners from around the region for the award finals in November.
