Travelling at Alert Level 1
19 Nov 2020
Updated 19 November 2020
All of New Zealand is currently at Alert Level 1, which means everyone can travel around New Zealand again without restrictions.
As with Level 2, you should avoid travelling if you’re feeling unwell, being tested for Covid-19 or need to self-isolate. It’s also important to keep your distance from others where possible, wash your hands regularly and keep a record of where you’ve been and who you’ve been in contact with. When you arrive at the airport, please look out for and scan the Government COVID tracing code or use the airport’s text message option if you don’t have the Government app.
Do I need to wear a mask?
In the airport terminal, it is not mandatory to wear a mask but it is encouraged, particularly where it is not possible to socially distance.
It is mandatory to wear masks on all domestic flights.
You are encouraged to bring your own mask, however airlines will be able to provide a mask if you do not have one. You are also able to buy masks from Relay in the terminal.
Once you have finished with your mask, you can dispose of it in the normal waste bins in the terminal. These are emptied regularly by our cleaners in line with Ministry of Health guidelines.
Can friends or family come to the airport with me?
It is fine for friends or family to come to the airport with you. On arrival, all visitors must scan the Government's tracing app or use the airport's text message option to sign in, and once in the terminal, keep a safe distance from other travellers.
While New Zealand's borders are closed for entry, all international flights are suspended until further notice.
