A taste of Beervana touches down at Wellington Airport
15 Oct 2020
If you are planning to visit Wellington Airport over the next couple of months, expect to be entertained as the terminal gets back the good vibe it had pre-Covid.
Kicking off this afternoon until 20 November in partnership with Fortune Favours, visitors to the airport can look forward to a series of beer tastings from local favourites in celebration of Beervana, New Zealand’s premier festival of good beer on 20-21 November. Tastings will be available from Fortune Favours, Double Vision Brewing, Waitoa Beer, Fork and Brewer and Parrotdog. Visitors will also be treated to a variety of live entertainment, including music to celebrate Wellington Jazz Festival, circus performers, drag entertainers, DJs and bands.
Jo Maxwell, Wellington Airport’s Manager Brand and Sponsorship, said “We are so excited to see events and live entertainment return to the terminal after months of lockdowns and social distancing. This is just the start of an exciting line up of in-terminal events including our annual Cystic Fibrosis Christmas Tree Festival in November and December”.
Ryan McArthur, Beervana Manager said “Beervana is about supporting and showcasing New Zealand’s Good Beer industry and we hope that this little taster will encourage people to keep buying local and supporting the brewing industry. We’ll also be very happy to see the many travellers through Wellington Airport come along to Beervana in November and help us celebrate with the industry after what’s been a very tough year!”
The recent move to alert level one, removal of social distancing requirements on aircraft, Jetstar’s return, Air New Zealand’s domestic sale fares and school holidays have all helped to stimulate travel over the past two weeks, and on Friday 9 October the airport experienced its busiest day since March.
Wellington-based events like Beervana are expected to further boost visitor numbers to the Capital in the coming months.
