ALL BLACKS sign to be auctioned for Mary Potter Hospice
13 July 2012
The All Blacks sign is being auctioned off to the highest bidder on Trademe and the proceeds will go to Mary Potter Hospice, so band together and get the sign for your school, work place or backyard!
All Blacks Manager Darren Shand said, “the All Blacks sign was an awesome show of support for the team during Rugby World Cup last year. It was a very cool gesture, was very much appreciated by the team, and overseas fans flying in for the Wellington Test matches were left in no doubt which team Wellington was supporting. We wish Wellington Airport all the best with the fundraising auction. It’s going to a fantastic cause.”
“Mary Potter Hospice has a huge impact on the Wellington region, nearly one-in-four Wellingtonian’s at some point in their lives will have some contact with the Hospice,” said Graham Ford, Mary Potter Hospice spokesperson.
“Money raised from the auction of this iconic sign will help provide medicine and medical care for those most at need and support for their families. We want to thank Wellington Airport and the All Blacks for getting behind the Hospice and making a difference to our community.”
The ‘Wellington blown away’ sign, designed by Saatchi and Saatchi, will be installed letter by letter over the next week depending on the weather.
The panel that managed the ‘Wellywood or What’ competition said, “this has been a great opportunity for our region and ‘Wellington blown away' works really well alongside the other wind inspired features on the way to the Airport. Let’s keep the creative momentum rolling and continue to produce ideas that we can celebrate.”
