  • Steven Sanderson

    • Chief Executive Officer

    Steve joined Wellington Airport in February 2012. Prior to joining WIAL, he was the CEO for Queenstown Airport for 5 years. His career background is predominantly in infrastructure businesses including airports, ports and electricity. Steve is a keen skier and is always looking for the untracked, otherwise he heads for the moguls.

  • Ayolt Wiertsema

    • General Manager Aeronautical Operations

    Our General Manager Aeronautical Operations, Ayolt gained his aviation expertise by working for Amsterdam Airport Schiphol in several managerial positions. Ayolt has a background in service management consultancy and is always trying to excel service expectations. In his spare time he loves to explore New Zealand in search of the perfect wave.

  • Martin Harrington

    • Chief Financial Officer

    Martin joined the team in 2008, prior to this, he held a number of senior finance roles within various industry sectors, including transport, tourism and financial services. In his spare time he dives with sharks, walks with lions and relaxes on warm sandy beaches – getting the priorities right.

  • John Howarth

    • Chief Operating Officer

    John was previously Wellington Airport's General Manager Planning and Assets. John trained as a Civil Engineer and has an extensive background in project management, construction and facilities management. John circumnavigated the world by boat as a child.

  • Matt Clarke

    • Chief Commercial Officer

    Responsible for Wellington Airport's aeronautical and commercial revenue.  Matt joined Infratil in 2006 from Rotorua Airport where he was CEO and was based in the UK as the CEO of Infratil’s Kent International Airport until he returned home to NZ in 2010. Has an unsettling habit of being chased by wild animals overseas – the scariest to date being a close call with a (surprisingly agile) Rhino in Nepal.

  • Greg Thomas

    • Manager Marketing and External Relations

    Greg joined Wellington Airport in June 2011. With a background in Services Marketing, Communications and PR, he has worked in telecommunications and outdoor adventure/personal development sectors. His favourite view of the Airport is from the “corner” at Lyall Bay with the other seals.

  • Aimee Froud

    • Manager HR & Admin

    Aimee has a background in theatre production, but decided to give up the craziness of theatre for some semblance of normality at the Airport... Starting in 2010 as the EA to the CEO, Aimee moved into the HR role in January 2011, and enjoys the challenge of learning so much on a daily basis whilst working with such a fantastic team of people.

  • Astra Davidson-Powell

    • Manager Retail

    Astra joined the WIAL commercial team in 2007 and has a background in property management and law. Currently Astra is responsible for retail activity and strategy, along with the advertising portfolio. In 2010 Astra held the title for best joint morning tea.

  • Mike Brown

    • Manager Property and Planning

    Mike joined the WIAL team in 2009 as the Airport Planner. With a background in law, property and planning he has taken on the property portfolio, responsible for all property management, leasing and development, including all resource management planning matters. Something of a sporty type, Mike is the proud holder of the WIAL 5 kilometre rowing machine time trial record.

  • Mike Vincent

    • Airline Development Manager

    Mike has previously worked for consultancy Booz Allen Hamilton as an Associate. In their Wellington and London offices, Mike worked primarily on projects within the transportation sector, including strategy development, and the evaluation of multi-modal projects.  Mike has also recently worked in local government managing a modelling team. He has also represented New Zealand in Inline Hockey.

  • Daniel Debono

    • Manager Airfield & Airport Fire Service

    Daniel is responsible for airfield operations and the Airport Fire Service at Wellington Airport. He previously worked as the Operations Manager for Queenstown Airport Corporation for 6 years prior to joining Wellington Airport in May of 2011. Daniel has a Bachelor of Aviation Management and extensive experience in airport operations. He was also a volunteer director of Coastguard Queenstown.

  • Wayne Martin

    • Manager Landside and Customer Engagement

    Wayne is responsible for terminal operations, people training & development and customer service delivery at Wellington Airport. Wayne has extensive experience in the service industry holding several senior management positions in hospitality and customer centric businesses. Wayne is an avid sports fan and keen team sports player; specialist indoor netball goal shooter.

  • Jon Eyley

    • Manger Safety and Quality Assurance

    Jon started with WIAL in 2007 and has led the development and implementation of health and safety management systems and strategies, including safety leadership and training programmes and cultural change both within WIAL and in the wider airport environment. Jon has an aviation background, completing 19 years as a pilot with the RAF, 8 years with RNZAF, and 6 years in the Middle East.

  • Lachlan Thurston

    • Manager Airport Performance

    Lachlan is responsible for operational policy and procedures with an overall objective of making Wellington a more efficient hub Airport.  Lachlan returns with extensive experience in various airport projects in Asia and the Middle East, having also held senior regulatory posts in the United Arab Emirates. Lachlan enjoys golf in his spare time and is learning to enjoy gardening.

  • Matthew Fowler

    • Finance Manager

    Finance Services Manager, Matthew joined Wellington Airport in 2011.  Prior to joining WIAL, Matthew held finance roles in the travel and tourism sectors based in London and Wellington, having started out his career with Deloitte Wellington. Matthew also has his private pilot’s licence.

  • Pippi Kettle

    • Business Performance Manager

    Pippi is responsible for treasury, risk management, budgeting and forecasting for Wellington Airport.  Pippi joined the Airport in May 2011 after returning from the UK and North America where she held various finance roles.  Pippi has a BCA and is a CA. Pippi is halfway through training to become a Pilates instructor.

  • Gavin Ng

    • Manager Infrastructure Service Delivery

    Gavin joined Wellington Airport in 2011 from Bank of New Zealand Wholesale Banking where he was Manager Technology Infrastructure. Gavin has extensive experience managing IT teams in complex and critical operations and has a keen interest in cycling.

  • Graeme Anderson

    • Manager Infrastructure Project Delivery

    Originally from the UK, Graeme is a professionally qualified quantity surveyor with over 30 years’ experience in the construction industry with the last 9 years focused on project management. Graeme initially joined the team as Project Manager for “The Rock”. He loves getting off the beaten track and seeing parts of New Zealand from a different perspective whether it’s 4WD, jet skiing, or hunting.
